The amazing truth about the greatest commandment

I was blind once... not with my physical eyes, but with the eyes of my heart. Groping in the darkness, I tried to find something that I didn't even know I needed or what it was. I'm not talking about myself as a "non-believer" but rather my life after deciding to follow Jesus. I suspect many of my spiritual kin are like that. We see Christ and confess Him as our Lord, Savior and King... He is the Firstborn, the I Am, the Everlasting Father - Yahowa Saves. We become experts of the Bible, learned in doctrines and eloquent in prayers and yet we can not shake off the fact that something is missing, like a key ingredient in a soup. We march on in the world, our faces like flint, but our hearts are weary with the strain of life.

I believe this feeling is caused by a misunderstanding of God and the offering up of His Son (John 3:16). We are confused fellows because we think that as believers in the crucified Christ, that our focus should be on doing what God commands and His greatest commandment, as Jesus said was

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,' and 'your neighbor as yourself'. (Luke 10:27)

Let me ask you, and be honest with yourself, do you really love God... like this? Forget your neighbor for now! But loving God with all our being? Ha!

You read the above verse and that is what you thought. It made you examine yourself and how true to the commandments you were, how true to the Law! This is the commandment of the Law, the very Law that Jesus Christ said He fulfilled. Hmmm... think about that a second. The Law, the New Testament says, was meant to lead us to Christ... in Him, it was fulfilled and it was even nailed on the cross. Some have said there are 613 commandments in the Old Testament, but the truth is that there is not a single man or woman that ever was or is or will be who can uphold the greatest of these commandments!

Praise be to God that His intention for us was not to obey Law but to live Life! He has delivered us from the Law and it's requirements, having completely wiped away the condemnation that stood against us! (see Col 2:14... Paul used even stronger words than mine in saying the Law was "wiped out", "taken out of the way" and even "nailed to the cross"!)

Don't give up on this post just yet, read on! God gave Moses this great commandment; but He gave it knowing it was dead even before it was born because we are fallen beings incapable of this righteousness. God gave this Law and Jesus mentioned it, not to pour out condemnation on you... "O you sinful one! How is that you do not love Me!"

No! A thousand times No! God wrote this to tell you how much He loves you! Really! The Law fulfilled in Christ! This was the essence of the Law. It was a list of things impossible for man to uphold. And here comes Jesus, who showed the true heart of God. If the Law said you must sacrifice, what did Jesus do? He was the One to sacrifice! If the Law said you must sacrifice an animal? What did Jesus do? He offered Himself as that animal "Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world" said John the Baptist. If the Law told you to purify with blood, Jesus shed His blood to purify you. The Law was really a whole list of things you had to do for God, and especially, sacrifice to Him. But when Jesus came doing all these things He was showing us the true heart of God was not for us to offer Him anything! Yes, the entire essence of the Law was sacrificial love... but before Christ, we thought it was meant for us to offer up such love. Thank God it isn't!

There is no one on earth who can claim to love God with all His heart and His soul and His mind and His strength except Jesus who is One with the Father, God manifested in flesh. That law was fulfilled by Christ, but the truth is that this is how God loves you... with all of His mind, His heart, His soul and His strength!

You want to know what you are missing? You are not missing loving God more. You are missing a revelation of how much God loves you! His love is immeasurable, but it takes a supernatural spark to become aware of it and start drinking it day in and day out. God's name is I AM and this is the truth... that God loves you with everything HE IS. Meditate on this today and receive His love and see if your heart will not burst to overflowing with love to Him (and of course, then to your neighbor)!

In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (1 John 4:10)
