Movie meditation: Noah - God's image and will is in you

I just watched Noah, the recent Hollywood movie starring Russel Crowe, and wow, is there a lot to talk to about! Don't worry, I'm not going to spoil the movie for you if you haven't watched it yet. I loved the way the movie showed Noah struggling to understand God's will. It does a great job in showing us a very true and simple fact: if you want to understand God's image, just look at the good in you, or do better and look to Jesus!  Click here to read about some of the mysteries of Noah - and understand the movie better.

But to look at yourself to understand God's will, should come with a warning; it's a double-edged sword that cuts both ways. I've written previously about how the way we are reflects on how we see God, sometimes positively, and often negatively. If you're a bitter and unforgiving person, guess how you're image of God will be? We can see God as angry, harsh and aloof precisely because we've encountered this in ourselves (and very often, in our parents too).

But when you hold your child in your arms, and delight in their smile, in their affection, in their beauty... that moment where you realize you would turn the world upside down for the love of your child and family, you're on to something. When you admire nature, the gentle breeze blowing on your face, the fragrance of a rose, the clear sunshine, the majesty of mountains... you are touching on a divine feeling... it's what God feels when He looks at His creation... especially, you! His love for you is an unquenchable fire. He delights in you more than any than you can imagine.

What does God want for you? What is His will? It is a question that has been pondered on since the beginning of time. See God as your Lord and Master, a God who asks for your unconditional service (as if He needed you!) then you completely block out His heart for you. If you see God as your Daddy, the One who loves you more than anyone ever... well, then what do you think He wants for you? That's when you'll truly know.
