The Meaning of the Parable of the Pearl - this is what Jesus values above everything else in the Universe!

People have this impression that God sent Jesus to the world to make them obey His commandments. They think the Father is sitting around in heaven and then decides to send His Son from heaven's glory to earth's misery, grow up from babyhood into manhood, only to be crucified by the scum of the earth on a cross while He hung like a piece of meat, naked, ashamed and mocked... just to make sure people turn from their sins and start obeying God. They open the Bible and they read "Hear and Obey... or else!" I'm not saying that's what the Bible says... I'm saying that's what they think it says!

He didn't come to set up a religion, get a movement going or cause a revolution. And He certainly didn't come to make sure people started following the Law.

But you know better. Here's why Jesus really came; He came because the most precious thing in all of the universe was buried under the curse, guilt and sin of the world. He came because the one thing He prized above all was being peddled with everything else in the worlds markets.

You are His treasure that was hidden in the field, downtrodden countless times in the mud and mire. You are that prized pearl that was found cast aside as a priceless item in some bazaar, overlooked and underpriced.

And you know what Jesus did to have you at His side? He gave everything... everything He had just for you to be with Him, saved, restored, in His Kingdom, forever and ever.

You don't have to wait till the day you die or heaven to make this a reality... It can all start this day... Amen.

"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it." (Matt 13:44-46, emphasis mine)
