Your life is in your hands

Your life isn't in God's hands... it's in yours!

Shocking statement! Of course our lives are in God's hands, but He doesn't just keep it there. Since our beginnings and time and time and again, God has always set before us life and death. In Eden, He set the tree of life and the other tree that bought death. In Jordan, to the ancient Israelites, He did the same (Deut 30:19). And finally through Jesus Christ and His saints He still does this today.

Where are you heading? It's your choice.

Paul understood this secret like no other I know. The man was stoned to death three times! How could that be possible? Paul spoke very boldly and said that he himself had the authority to decide whether he wanted to live on earth or pass over to heaven (see Phil 1:21-25). The only other One to say something like this was Jesus. Listen to what He said about His life;

"No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father." (John 10:18).

Understand that your Father sent Jesus with this command. So when Jesus says "As the Father has sent Me, I also send you." (John 20:21) This mean that you also have that same authority and power of Christ, just as Paul did too.

Your life isn't supposed to be like a boat buffeted by the waves here and there. That's not your inheritance. Your inheritance is a strong peace from within that springs forth and outwards into every area of your life. I haven't fully laid hold of this yet, but I refuse to neglect this truth and let the world's whims drag me up and down. My friend, this is your portion in Christ. He blessed you with His glory, His power, His authority and His Sonship. Today, meditate on this in your situation. The life in you, is the very life of Christ! See it in you, seize it by your hands and let the peace of Christ ever rule supreme in your heart.

"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live."
John 11:25

  1. Interesting post. Thank you for writing this. We shouldn't be just sitting around but doing things with our lives.

    Your reference to Paul in Phil 1:21-25 seems to discuss that Paul was overwhelmed by Jesus and wanted others to know it. It wasn't that Paul could say, "God, take me home." God is the decider of that. But that Paul was ready to see Jesus face to face but for now he will finish his mission.

  2. Hi Justin.

    Thanks for the feedback. I just wanted to point out that Paul didn't say "It's up to God whether He wants to take me home or not." He said "Convinced of this, I will remain..." It sounds to me like he decided. But regardless of that, surely Jesus had that authority. I think we have it too since He gave us His glory! (see John 17:22).

    What do you think about that? Again, I don't want to sound as if I've known and experienced this truth for long. But I'm very eager to discover what it really means for us!
