The secret of being joyful when the wait is endless: Live!

I had this vision (more like an imagination) of two men walking together in a vast endless desert.

Death Valley (By Trey Ratcliff)
The sun-stricken fellows were thirsty, alone and lost. One breaks the silence, "Oh the heat... the sand... the thirst! This miserable, gnawing thirst! When will this end?" The other lifts up his eyes and scans the  horizon, he pauses and gently speaks, "This is beautiful! We are alive... and surely we shall stay alive. Don't lose hope, my friend!" As you watch them from above somewhere, like a bird, you see that a mile away, a convoy of rescuers hurries towards them... yet the two are clueless to this.

I feel that God is slow. Ever felt that too? He takes His time... a lot! Sometimes, when we're walking in the desert lands of waiting, we forget to look around and enjoy the life we've been given. If you are waiting for something, big or small, it occupies your thoughts day and night... why not look around you, take a deep breath, be in the moment. You are alive! Open your parched mouth and thank God for how you are blessed and joyful (even if you don't feel joyful or blessed). That is the secret of being joyful, you know .

When someone talks to you in a moment, don't keep looking at a screen or rushing about. Stop what you're doing, look at their eyes and be attentive. Be aware of where you are now, the nature, the walls, the bus.

Feel the wind, whether it's cold or hot.

Take note of people's faces as you walk past them... each one tells a unique story.

Do you see the details on the pavement?

Do you hear the sounds of cars or birds or whatever it is your are hearing now?

I can't imagine Jesus being distracted... He was always in the moment and full of a strong, rich joy that none could steal from Him. When people came to Him, He gave them His full attention. He gave you that joy and His life... you are alive because the Spirit of God in you is giving life to your body right now. You are where you are, to be God's man and woman, to be the helping hand and calming voice of Jesus to those around you. Your answer will come! But in the meantime, rejoice, live and cherish the peace of Jesus in you.

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit." 1 Thess 5:16-19
