Do you want more Revelation? This has got to be one of the most powerful prayers you can pray.
How do you listen to God? Do you listen to a lot of sermons? Read books? Read the Bible and study it? I daresay, the most effective way to listen to God's Word is to simply open your ears to His Spirit!
Even Bible study has become (to so many) just an exercise of human logic, where any spiritual input from the Spirit has been replaced by the cold-hard iron of human philosophy! Really it has!
What I'm saying is that on the one hand, instead of relying on other people to teach you God's word, go to directly to the Source! And on the other hand, when you do go about studying the Holy Scriptures, never let that be a purely intellectual and mental exercise; the Scriptures are your Father's living words. Invite His Spirit to come and guide you and show you.
I'm not saying at all that we should turn off our minds when understanding and seeking spiritual revelation, far from it. Our minds should be working in step with the Spirit always. It's just that we are not used to even involving Him.
Truly when you do these things the Word will jump with Revelation after Revelation for you! You will understand things that are so relevant for you that you never understood before. That's because when the Spirit teaches you something - and you have listened - there's a whole almost cosmic and spiritual realignment that goes on in you, as if to impart in you the very power you need to act on those lessons right away!
One of the most powerful prayers you can pray is for MORE of the Holy Spirit. Without getting all theological and arguing about different words, just ask God for more of His Spirit.
Do you know why that's such a powerful prayer? Because it is SO aligned to God's will! Here's what Jesus had to say about this:
You probably should also read this post while you're at it: It's about how God's Spirit will be poured out on the last days and results in amazing revelations (Joel 2:28).

You then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him. Luke 11:13

you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. John 14:26
