The Game of Nations... break it's rules by blessing!

The church has been taught that as poverty, war and disease tear our countries apart, we have no power to bless the world; we can only hope for the best, having pity and pray uncertain prayers. What a sham! We have an honor that is truly great in Christ. Want to find out what it is? Then read on.

For millenia, the saints were seen as weak and weakness was exalted. I'm not sure where this came from.

Consider the heroes of faith. Was Abraham weak when, with a force of only 318 servants, he went to war with five kings? Was Rahab, the prostitute of the Jericho wall, weak when she saw wisely and saved her family from destruction? Was Gideon weak, when in dark days of oppression, rose to liberate his people? Was Daniel and his friends weak when they boldly declared they would not bow down to false gods?

How about Paul? He was stoned to death... three times! And lived because he wanted to live. John and James, the Sons of Thunder as Jesus called them, had seen so many life-saving miracles from their own hands and knew that they had the authority to call fire to destroy a village! Sure, they were rebuked for their ignorance, but it wasn't because they understood they had power, even the power of the most powerful prophets of old (Jesus rebuffed their requests because they didn't yet come to know the Spirit of Christ and His mercy).

When Jesus was arrested, a mob came to Him with clubs and swords... these were rough guys coming in the middle of the night; it doesn't get more intimidating then that. Yet Jesus rose and stood His ground, and said,

"Who are you looking for?"

Arrogantly, they responded, "Jesus of Nazereth."

"I AM." He firmly declared. As the sound left His lips the thugs fell on top of each other, as if they had just been smacked by an invisible hand.

The truth I'm about to share with you is staggering:

You are like Jesus Christ! He came to make you His brothers and sisters.

"...as He is, so are we in this world..." 1 John 4:17

Look, turn on the TV, read the news. What is happening in your country? Is blood streaming down the streets? Are your people perishing in ghettos made before your parents were born? Is poverty or sickness eating away your people? Does hope seem to have left you in the land of your exile as your youth emigrate in droves?

You might ask, "David, so you want us to go out there, protest, be an activist, or rebel and fight? What are you saying?" No, I don't want you to do those things. The world fights like that, but not the children of God. You are not a sheep of man to be sent to slaughter in service of false causes and the princes of this world; you are a sheep of Christ, clothed with Sonship, of royal blood, endowed with His glory, an heir of the Almighty.

Consider this; Jesus, the Lamb of God, is also known as the Lion of Judah. And what does that make you, too? Sheep are notoriously docile and dumb creatures. But we have the Holy Spirit, imparting both wisdom and awesome strength to each soul.

"Get to the point David!" My friends, there is a sword which you should take up. It is not a sword of iron and metal, to be directed at human hearts, that cuts open flesh and bones...(and ahem, ears Peter!) It is the Sword of the Spirit. The double-edged Sword that Christ Himself gave you. His words, in your heart, from your spirit, out of your mouth.

"Oh yeah, so you want us to memorize Bible verses?" Ha! Bible verses... no I'm not talking about reciting verses here and there into the air (though it's a start)! The Bible is authored by the Spirit... the Spirit of God lives in you. His words flow from within you, not just for your personal encouragement, but to change the fate of nations, especially of your nation or people!

Jesus has called us a royal priesthood (1 Pet 2:9). He has called us Kings and Priests (Rev 1:6). This is our King-Priestly calling. On the one hand, a king utters a command and his commands are obeyed. If they speak war, war comes. If they speak peace, peace comes. From a chair in a palace they speak and things happen. We are kings in Christ. So speak! Let words of life and blessing flow from your lips, the words of the Spirit are life and truth. Let them resound on your mouth.

As a priest, you have the power to represent your family, clan and nation to God. You also have the power to immensely bless them. All it takes is words. Words inspired by the Spirit of God in you. We have lost the art of blessing. All of the saints should bless their loved ones, as easily as they breathe. And when you see calamities or threats, by all means bless as you wish. This isn't wishful thinking. I've seen all that I'm writing about... not for decades, but regularly over the past few years.

Don't be afraid to try and experiment. Start sowing seeds of life and Spirit in your life, for your city and country, for your family and friends. Bless (and do not curse)! Surely you will see a harvest... this is your calling and your birthright in Christ!

"I create the fruit of the lips: Peace, peace to him who is far off and to him who is near," Says the LORD, "And I will heal him." Isa 57:19
