The simple secret of prospering

The first Psalm speaks about the man who prospers in all he does. It says he is like a well-watered tree, whose leaves are ever green and who is fruitful. What is the secret to being like this?

"'And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment." Mark 12:30

The man who will be like this is the man who "delights" and "meditates day and night" in God's laws (Ps. 1:2). The greatest law, Jesus said, is the law calling us to love God with all our being. But there isn't a single person who draws breath on this planet who is able to fulfill this law. Not one! Not you, nor I can lay claim to this. So let me ask you, what good is it to delight and meditate on a law that is impossible for us to do? You see, this is God's law, not man's. In other words, this is how God relates to man, it's God who does the loving! It's God who loves you with all HIS heart, soul, mind and strength! One of Jesus' closest friends and disciples, John, wrote "We love Him because He first loved us." So what does it mean to delight and meditate on God's law? This is the secret of being prosperous in all you do, being strong, healthy, fruitful and joyful and having length of good days: to constantly be aware and enjoy the love of God for you. John also wrote that  "In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins." My friend, God doesn't just love you cheaply. It cost Him everything to show you how much He loves you - He sent His Son to shamed, tortured and killed on your behalf! The price He paid loving you is immeasurable! When your heart is broken, think on how God loves you with all His heart and let your heart be mended. When your soul is anxious and troubled, delight in how God loves you with all His soul and receive His rest. When evil and sinful thoughts cloud your mind, remember how much God loves you with all His mind and how you are always on His mind! And finally, when you are afraid, always remember that God loves you with all His strength - He is your shield, and is strong on your behalf to deliver you from all evil and harm in any situation. The way to prosper like this beautiful tree and live long, for trees are the longest living creatures on earth, is to delight and meditate in this love of God for you. "My children, sit back and rest, look up to Me and let Me carry you away in the oceans of My love for you! You are My delight and the center of all My affection. I love you, never forget it." says the Spirit.
