The gospel of snow

"Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow." Psalm 51:7

Have you seen snow covering the ground? When it snows, the world becomes a winter wonder land, whether its the city, the mountains or even the desert. Whatever is beneath the snow is hidden and the land completely changes its character. Now imagine for a second a landfill - everyday dozens of garbage trucks dump refuse into it. When it snows on a landfill, you won't even now what it is.

The truth is that your sins are forgiven because Jesus washed them away. Like snow covering the garbage dump, His mercy covers your sins.  But there is more. Imagine that after the first snow fall, the next day the garbage trucks come again and the snow becomes sullied and dirty. Thanks be to God, His mercy isn't a one time thing but rather like an eternal snow fall.

Do you see His waves of mercy coming on you every time you sin? Do you look up, see the snow of His forgiveness covering you, not just over your former life, but today and every moment? You could be dumping truckloads of sin every day, yet like an eternal snow fall, so is His grace - His blood is effective for eternity, always washing away your sins. If you don't understand this, those truckloads of sin in your life will never stop coming.

Peter said that the reason a son of God doesn't have virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness and love is because he's spiritually blind "and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins." (2 Pet 1:9) Friend, today take the key to living victoriously in Christ by seeing yourself as you truly are; always forgiven, always cleansed and forever spiritually white as snow!
